Gynecology and Obstetrics

Gynecology and Obstetrics are known as OB/GYNs which are the two special surgical fields dealing with the feminine reproductive organs, and as such are some time jointed to form a single postgraduate and medicinal specialty training course. This mutual education plans the practicing OB/GYN to be proficient at the surgical management of the complete range of clinical pathology relating feminine reproductive organs, and to provide care for both non-pregnant and pregnant women’s. The education for doctors in this area is some time quite laborious: for example, the residency training in Australia is one of the longest time period which covers around six years, equivalent to neurosurgery training. But course period for OB/GYN in the US is around four years. OB/GYN career is in boom now days.

Some OB/GYN doctors opt to do additional subspecialty training programs called as 'fellowships' after finishing their residency training, although the large number of doctors concern in Obstetrics and Gynecology jobs prefer to come in academic or private practice as general OB/GYNs. Fellowship education in a gynecologic or obstetric subspecialty can vary from one to four years of time period, and these 'post doctorate' programs generally have a study module concerned with the operational and clinical training.
